The main function of this role is to fulfill the nutritional, health, and environmental requirements of the animals as directed under the supervision of the Vivarium leadership.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Performs assigned duties such as, administration of medications, injections, fecal and tissue collections, phlebotomies, and euthanasia.
•  Support investigators during pre, intra and post surgery as needed.  
•  Assist in the training of investigators and staff in the proper handling of animals, aseptic surgical techniques, injection, anesthesia and breeding.
•  Proper care and use of surgical equipment and supplies.
•  Maintains medical records of animals as required by Federal and State Laws.

Qualified candidates will and AS degree or higher in a lab animal setting (research, industry, or CRO environments welcome) and 1 - 3+ years of experience. Those with Veterinary Technology license or certification (LVT or CVT) preferred and AALAS Certification is a plus.

The main function of this role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Vivarium operations spread across more than one building.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Animal handling and veterinary health assessments on a variety of laboratory species including USDA regulated species.
•  Surgical, technical, and/or anesthesia support for research studies or animal health and wellness.   
•  Interact with research staff, users, and vivarium staff in a professional, customer-service mindset and work collaboratively to resolve issues or resource conflicts.

•   Necropsy and perfusion techniques, tissue specimen collection and labeling
•   Paraffin and resin tissue processing including embedding, sawing, grinding, microtomy, and slide staining  
•   Slide, tissue block, and data record generation and organization
•   Generate quality data in compliance with GLP guidelines and document deviations and incidents.
•   For more experienced candidates (Level III): development and implementation of immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and in-situ hybridization (ISH) assays.  Also, imaging cells and tissue samples using brightfield and fluorescence microscopy.
