Our client is a large research institution in Boston with a complex and diverse Lab Animal Medicine program. This role will be part of a centralized department that is tasked with providing facilities, services, and information to facilitate effective research using laboratory animals at the institution.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
• Monitoring health and providing clinical care to laboratory animals
• Technical support for in vivo researchers (gavage, blood draws, restraint, anesthesia and anesthesia monitoring) and post-procedure care to laboratory animals
• Write and revise IACUC protocols and/or relevant SOPs when needed
• Coordinate study details and planning 

Qualified candidates will have an AS degree or higher (BS preferred) in Veterinary Sciences with 1+ year of experience in a lab animal medicine environment. Entry-level candidates with only internship experience and non-degreed candidates with appropriate lab animal medicine experience will also be considered. AALAS certifications recommended.  Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely to be considered.  

This role will be based in Boston, MA. Unfortunately, no relocation assistance is available at this time. Want to work in a stable and growing academic Vivarium in the heart of Boston?  Our client is looking to hire an experienced Technician or someone already at the Supervisor level to work closely with the Vivarium Managers, Director, and Consulting Veterinarians to ensure the facility meets all applicable regulations and AAALAC Guidelines when applicable.

The main function of this role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Vivarium operations spread across more than one building.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Animal handling and veterinary health assessments on a variety of laboratory species including USDA regulated species.
•  Surgical, technical, and/or anesthesia support for research studies or animal health and wellness.   
•  Interact with research staff, users, and vivarium staff in a professional, customer-service mindset and work collaboratively to resolve issues or resource conflicts.

Qualified candidates will have an AS degree or higher and 3-5+ years of experience in laboratory animal research in an academic or industrial research environment.  LATG certification preferred; CVT or LVT licensure a plus.  Prior Supervisory experience preferred but not required to be considered.
